An original going strong
A trip to Notting Hill is not complete without stopping in at Ottolenghi, if only to check out the luscious display of food. The first café of Yotam Ottolenghi’s empire, it has had many imitators since but few match the consistently high standard. First-time visitors will be struck by the colourful array of dishes against the all-white interior. If they're lucky, there’ll be space at the 10-seater communal table down the back. The focus is on salads that are much more than just a boring salad, like the char-grilled broccoli with chilli and garlic or the middle-eastern influenced aubergine with saffron yoghurt. Such a healthy eating means there’s no reason not to move onto one of the famed flourless chocolate tea cakes or lemon mascarpone tarts.
